SD-WAN remains one of the hottest emergent IT solutions due to its ability to deliver fast, dependable, and secure enterprise WAN connections over relatively inexpensive, less reliable circuits. Unfortunately, like most hot IT technologies, SD-WAN is besieged by an excess of providers peddling SD-WAN labeled products with varying sets of features. Inevitably, buyers end up confused and then struggle to make the decision to use SD-WAN to displace or supplement traditional circuits. This research brief discusses the key pros and cons across both options in an effort to demystify the decision-making process, providing the reader with a mind-map to make the right choice.
