Cloud data privacy solutions provider Skyflow Inc. recently revealed that it has secured USD 30 million in new funding. Skyflow’s new funds will be utilized to expand its privacy vault solutions and address the increasingly complex data localization requirements, particularly concerning the protection of sensitive data in AI applications.

Established in 2019, Skyflow provides a data privacy vault that seamlessly integrates with any tech stack. The company claims that its solution simplifies the enforcement of privacy policies across various applications, data clouds, and large language models. Skyflow’s vault was designed to streamline the process of isolating, protecting, and governing customers’ most sensitive data. It provides a global network of data privacy vaults, enabling companies to securely implement LLMs and adhere to complex data localization requirements.

The company asserts that with the rising adoption of LLMs, there exists a dearth of data protection mechanisms, thereby jeopardizing compliance, security, and privacy.
The crux of the issue, as they perceive it, lies in the near-impossibility of removing sensitive data once it enters a model, rendering data deletion requests – mandated by new privacy laws – significantly more challenging.

Skyflow serves as a privacy trust layer, aiding companies in preventing sensitive data from entering AI models in the first place. Customers have the flexibility to define sensitive terms according to their specific needs, enabling them to safeguard sensitive information beyond personally identifiable information or company intellectual property.

The company delivers its service with an exclusive technology known as “polymorphic encryption.” Skyflow’s encryption method is designed to safeguard data without compromising its usability for essential business functions, including analytics, marketing, and customer support.

Skyflow boasts a client roster that includes GoodRx Holdings Inc., Lenovo Group Ltd., and Hippocratic AI LLC. The company handles over 2 billion application programming interface (API) calls every quarter.

Khosla Ventures LLC spearheaded the Series B round, joined by previous investors Mouro Capital LP, Foundation Capital LLC, and Canvas Ventures Co. Ltd.

“With the advent of enterprise applications powered by AI, the need for trust and privacy infrastructure is key to protecting sensitive data,” Khosla Ventures founder Vinod Khosla stated in a statement. “Skyflow is rethinking how data can be managed and protected across any app, cloud or LLM, making it a company that will be vital for every enterprise business.”

Including Skyflow’s new funds, the cloud data privacy solution provider has amassed a total of USD 100 million in funding to date, as per data from Tracxn.
