Recently, a cloud incident response company, Mitiga Security Inc., secured USD 30 million in funding to accelerate growth, enhance its artificial intelligence-driven platform, and build strategic partnerships.
Founded in 2019, Mitiga provides a cloud-based SaaS incident response platform that continuously searches for emerging threats using a cloud attack scenario library—a specialized database for multivector hunts across cloud and SaaS environments. When a breach is identified, the platform, IR2, delivers immediate answers to breach-related queries by proactively collecting, organizing, and analyzing forensic-level data.
The company’s IR2 platform offers services like Cloud Security Data Lake, Cloud Threat Hunting, Investigation Workbench, and Emergency Cloud Incident Response, all aimed at helping organizations swiftly address advanced attacks in their SaaS and cloud environments.
Launched in December 2023, the Investigation Workbench offers a unified dashboard that provides visibility into all multicloud and SaaS activities. This solution enables security operations teams to monitor events across extensive cloud and SaaS environments, assess activity scope, and determine impacts without requiring advanced expertise in cloud and SaaS investigations.
The new funding coincides with a period of significant growth for Mitiga, which has added customers like Blackstone Inc., ZoomInfo Technologies Inc., and New American Funding LLC to its portfolio.
The funding round was led by SYN Ventures, with participation from existing investors such as ClearSky Security, Atlantic Bridge Capital Ltd., Flint Capital Inc., DNX Ventures, and Glilot Capital Partners Ltd.
Along with the funding announcement, Mitiga revealed two senior appointments, one of which strongly suggests the company may be positioning itself for a potential acquisition in the future.
John Watters has joined Mitiga as Executive Chairman. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Mandiant, acquired by Google LLC. Watters also held roles as chairman and CEO of iDEFENSE, acquired by Verisign Inc., and iSIGHT Partners, acquired by FireEye Inc. Additionally, he was a lead investor and board member of Archer Technologies and Chairman of NetWitness, both of which were acquired by RSA Security LLC.
Robert Rodriguez, Founder and Chairman of SINET and venture partner at SYN Ventures, is also joining Mitiga’s board of directors.
Co-founder of Mitiga, Tal Mozes, said, “Both have an impressive track record in cybersecurity and will help Mitiga achieve our mission of protecting organizations from the insidious and complex threats facing cloud and SaaS data and applications.”
