Jericho Security, an artificial intelligence cybersecurity startup, has acquired three million dollars in funding to battle the increasing number of generative AI-backed phishing attacks.

Era led the pre-seed round, with participation from Lux Capital LP, Textbook LLC, Thorntree Capital Partners LP, MetaLabs Inc, FoundersXFund LLC, Alcove Inc., Alumni Venture Group, and Contrary Capital LLC. FiscalNote Inc. co-founder and CEO Tim Hwang, AI technologist and former Agolo Inc. CEO Sage Wohns, and cybersecurity specialist and PKC Security LLC founding partner Dan Chyan founded the company earlier this year.

Jericho helps businesses protect against social engineering phishing attacks by employing artificial intelligence to produce sophisticated simulations and instructive content for employees. According to the startup, it “uses AI to fight AI,” working as a white hat for organizations.

According to the startup, the recent growth of generative AI technology poses a novel and unprecedented threat vector in business security because AI can be leveraged to create hyper-personalized, social engineering phishing attacks at scale. AI-generated attacks are claimed to have tripled in sophistication since the launch of OpenAI LP’s ChatGPT last year. While the attack environment evolves, many businesses have not altered their cybersecurity posture to keep up with generative AI, leaving them more susceptible than ever.

Wohns, CEO and Co-founder, said, “Corporate cybersecurity solutions are antiquated and have become virtually obsolete overnight due to the magnitude, personalization and adaptive attacks from generative AI. Too often, companies only take proper cybersecurity action when it’s too late, following reputational harm and potential litigation.”

The company’s platform employs powerful language processing, proprietary privately hosted language models, and brokered insights to train employees using realistic individualized simulations of threats from malicious actors. Users are personalized on the platform, which provides businesses the team-wide data and individual feedback.

“We believe in proactive cybersecurity, empowering organizations to prevent attacks rather than reacting to breaches. Jericho equips companies and their employees with the tools and skills to identify and halt generative attacks effectively,” added Wohns.

Jericho Security collaborates with partners from the healthcare, financial, and government sectors. The solution costs three dollars per month per user.
