  • The Fortanix-Versasec partnership offers a solution that enables the calculation and transfer of all keys derived from the old HSM master key.

Recently, a multicloud security company, Fortanix Inc., is partnering with Versasec AB, a new identity and access management provider. This collaboration aims to help organizations safeguard cryptographic processes, ensure the integrity of their credentials, and mitigate the risks related to key exposure.

The partnership aims to tackle the challenge global institutions face in migrating master keys from hardware security modules (HSMs). HSMs are specialized devices designed for the secure management, processing, and storage of cryptographic keys, along with handling encryption and decryption tasks.

The Fortanix-Versasec partnership facilitates a seamless transition to Fortanix HSM master keys by calculating and transferring derived keys from the old HSM.

The partnership is designed for highly regulated industries such as banking, financial services, government, healthcare, e-commerce, retail, and energy. It integrates Fortanix’s key management solutions with Versasec’s vSEC credential management system to provide secure storage and diversification of administrative keys.

The key advantages include safeguarding master keys used in cryptographic operations, as well as securely generating, storing, and managing keys essential for administrative tasks. The integration also protects keys from unauthorized access or tampering, ensuring that organizations meet strict security standards and regulatory requirements.

“Combining Fortanix’s capabilities with Versasec’s best-in-class credential management is an ideal solution for enterprises looking to secure crypto operations, even in complex use cases. collaboration has already delivered significant value to one of the world’s largest financial institutions and together, we look forward to helping many more enterprises, especially in regulated and privacy-sensitive industries, derive the same benefits from implementing the joint solution,” said Anuj Jaiswal, Chief Product Officer.
