A business unit of Cloud Software Group Inc., Citrix Systems Inc. acquired Strong Network and deviceTRUST GmbH to resolve the challenges of offering strong zero-trust security for hybrid work ecosystems.
Both the acquired businesses specialize in security technology intended to offer zero-trust security for hybrid environments. Although robust, deviceTRUST GmbH specializes on real-time contextual access solutions for desktop as a service and virtual desktop infrastructure. Strong Network offers robust data protection measures together with safe cloud development environments.
The acquisitions are intended to improve Citrix platform security. They can guarantee that developers have access to cloud development environments while enabling it to separate and safeguard access to mission-critical applications spread across on-premises and cloud environments.
DeviceTRUST, founded in 2016, provides businesses with a central contextual platform for securing their digital workspaces. The solutions offered by the company guarantee adherence to security, compliance, and regulatory standards while enabling customers to access company data and apps from any location, device, or network.
The company’s solution enforces dynamic access controls by continuously monitoring the context of access, including user location and device posture. Information technology departments can give or deny access depending on current security conditions due to the real-time evaluation, which also improves data protection and lowers risks related to remote work.
By integrating the contextual security solutions from deviceTRUST, companies can adapt zero-trust strategies to make sure that only compliant gadgets and users can have access to sensitive resources.
Strong Network, the second acquisition, gives Citrix access to a business that specializes in offering secure cloud development environments to improve the productivity and security of remote software development teams. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and founded in 2020, it provides a self-hosted platform that lets businesses oversee Linux development environments that are ready to code and available from any device.
By using software containers, Strong Network’s platform enables businesses to centralize development environment management, increasing developer productivity and protecting intellectual property. By making sure that source code and critical data are shielded from leaks and illegal access, the company’s strategy tackles issues related to remote work and “bring your own device” regulations.
The company’s platform seamlessly integrates with a variety of development tools and adheres to security standards, including the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 27001 for information security management systems and guidelines from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This ensures real-time monitoring and governance metrics are maintained throughout the application lifecycle.
Prior to their purchases, deviceTRUST had raised Series A venture capital from Hessen Capital GmbH and High-Tech Gründerfonds Management GmbH, although the sums were not made public. In a single round, Strong Network raised USD 5.47 million from Founderful GmbH and OpenOcean Management Oy.
“As businesses continue to evolve to support hybrid work, the demand for cyber resilience has only intensified,” Sridhar Mullapudi, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Citrix, stated.
