Checkmarx Ltd., a company specializing in application security testing, and Brinqa Inc., a cybersecurity risk management firm, have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at assisting organizations in creating advanced application security programs that align with the changing threat landscape.
The collaboration aims to tackle the growing security threat of vulnerable code, a leading cause of data breaches. According to the companies, despite application vulnerabilities being responsible for 46% of data breaches in 2022, many organizations still prioritize perimeter, network, and endpoint security while neglecting application security.
By joining forces, Checkmarx and Brinqa have combined the Brinqa Attack Surface Intelligence Platform’s risk-based prioritization, automation, and reporting capabilities with the Checkmarx One Application Security Platform.
This partnership will lead to a collaborative solution that offers comprehensive orchestration of the cyber risk lifecycle for code. The integration will involve a range of capabilities, such as software composition analysis, static and dynamic application security testing, and infrastructure-as-code, which will allow for automated vulnerability discovery, prioritization, remediation, and reporting. This solution aims to minimize risk, ensure compliance, and facilitate business growth.
As per the statement made by Amad Fida, the Founder, and CEO of Brinqa, “Developing a modern vulnerability risk management program requires visibility into every part of your attack surface, including code and applications – and this partnership ensures companies have just that. Combining Checkmarx One with Brinqa’s Attack Surface Intelligence platform empowers organizations to incorporate comprehensive AppSec insights into a companywide view of cyber risk, now and into the future.”
Cyber advisory and information security firm Optiv Security Inc. played a key role in bringing the two companies together. Optiv facilitated the partnership in response to requests from customers and the market need for more dynamic vulnerability management reporting.
Shawn Asmus, the Practice Director of Application Security at Optiv, says, “The partnership between Brinqa and Checkmarx gives our clients an innovative path to solve modern application security challenges. By leveraging these technology platforms with proper configuration and automation, our clients can rapidly detect, prioritize and respond to threats and vulnerabilities using proper business contexts.”
