Recently, Enterprise ransomware defense startup Mimic Networks Inc. secured USD 50 million in new funding to strengthen its ransomware defense platform, expand its market presence, and drive product innovation.
Founded in 2023, Mimic provides a platform designed to detect, deflect, and enable swift recovery from ransomware attacks. Positioned as the last line of defense, its solution ensures critical data remains protected against increasingly advanced cyber threats.
The Mimic platform utilizes advanced detection technology to identify ransomware activity within milliseconds, minimizing the risk of damage. Its rapid detection enables security teams to take proactive measures, stopping data encryption and exfiltration before they happen.
Beyond detection, Mimic’s platform features real-time deflection mechanisms that redirect ransomware away from critical enterprise assets. It integrates seamlessly with existing security systems, strengthening defense without requiring a full infrastructure overhaul.
The Series A funding round was led by GV (Google Ventures) and Menlo Ventures LP, with continued support from existing investors Ballistic Ventures, Team8 Ventures LP, Wing Venture Capital LP, and Shield Capital. This latest investment brings Mimic’s total funding to USD 77 million.
“Mimic’s ability to detect and deflect ransomware so much faster than traditional defenses is unique in the market. We believe Mimic’s capabilities, combined with their use of AI, will become part of every CISO’s minimum required defense strategy,” said Karim Faris, GV General Partner.
Alongside the funding announcement, Mimic introduced Mimic Signal Generator, a new feature enabling customers to safely simulate ransomware impacts.
Mimic Signal Generator enables organizations to safely simulate ransomware attacks within their networks, allowing security teams to analyze ransomware behavior in a controlled setting. This feature also helps assess and validate defense strategies without the risks associated with real malware.
“The Mimic Signal Generator opens a new avenue for customer testing that has never been available before. By allowing customers to safely see what real ransomware would do inside their networks, we enable our customers to test and validate their security posture without the dangers of handling actual malware,” said Bob Blakley, Chief Product Officer.
